The Open ?!

Hey all!

If you are on our members page, I’ve been posting here and there about how ‘The Open’ is coming. Not everyone knows what that is, so I wanted to do a short post about what The Open is and why I consider it the most wonderful time of the year!

The Open: According to the CrossFit Games

“During this five-week, five-workout competition, workouts are released online each Thursday, and athletes have until the following Monday to submit their scores. Anyone who's at least 14 years old can sign up and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season.

The Open provides two ways to qualify for the CrossFit Games. The top man and woman from each country (based on country of citizenship) with at least one affiliate in good standing will be crowned a National Champion and earn a spot to the Games. Along with National Champions, the top 20 men and women worldwide also will qualify automatically for the Games.”

What that means for the rest of us: ‘Friday Night Lights’

The Open is an opportunity for all of us to come together as a community every Friday night, get in a workout and have a lot of fun. We will have a theme each night, where themed attire is highly encouraged! Each night’s theme will have corresponding themed drinks and food, sponsorship participation, giveaways and the very best part: cheering each other on.

Those 5 weeks are a special time to connect with each other (um, hello morning crew, meet the afternoon crew! :P ) a time to let loose and have some fun with your outfits, and also an opportunity to push yourself to try something new, push for a new PR or blast through a goal you’ve been working on this year.

More info to come on the members page about what each theme will be, what it costs, what it includes, etc etc, but I wanted to give a brief synopsis, so everyone is prepared for the fun that is about to happen!

As always – feel free to reach out to me with any questions. Looking forward to the fall together!

In health & gainz,

Kayla
